About - The Friends Group

What do we do?

The Friends of Clifton Backies aim to preserve, manage and develop Clifton Backies Local Nature Reserve through maintenance, education and conservation, for the benefit of the local community.

Friends of Clifton BackiesThe Friends group has a Chairperson, a Secretary and other Officers elected at an Annual General Meeting, but the majority of friends are members of the public that have an interest in Clifton Backies.

The Friends group meets on a regular basis (see Events), to:

  • Have their say about what happens on the site
  • Keep up to date about what is happening
  • Organise events to give something positive back to the local community
  • Gain access to training and grant schemes to learn new skills and improve the site.

We are continuing work to change local perceptions of the site, to enhance the site for wildlife, to develop the site for its educational and recreational value with local schools and the community.
